The Votes are In: MMA Leaders Elected

Dionne Hart, MD, DFAPA, FASAM, has been elected as the MMA’s president-elect in this year’s leadership election, which was held electronically in August.  

Hart, a Rochester-based psychiatrist and MMA member since 2003, has served on the MMA Board of Trustees, Policy Council, Governance Committee, Equity in Access & Quality Committee, and Annual Conference Planning Committee. She has also served on the MMA Barriers to Workforce Diversification in Physician Education, Training and Licensure Taskforce; the MMA & MNACEP Emergency Department Boarding of Patients with Psychiatric Diagnoses Taskforce; the MMA Health Equity Advisory Group; and the Health Disparities Work Group. Hart has also been active with the Zumbro Valley Medical Society including a term as its president.

Other leadership election results:  

Four physicians and one medical student were elected to the MMA Board of Trustees - Magda Bushara, MBBS; Elizabeth Elfstrand, MD (incumbent); Habiba Ikoghode, MD; Caleb Schultz, MD (incumbent); and Alarie Chu, medical student.  

The new Board members’ terms begin October 1.  

Physicians elected to the MMA delegation to the AMA were Andrea Hillerud, MD (incumbent) and Laurel Ries, MD, who were elected delegates, and Lisa Mattson, MD (incumbent) who was elected as an alternate. 

AMA delegation terms begin January 1, 2027.
