Legacy Society of the MMA Foundation

The Legacy Society was created to thank the generous and thoughtful donors who include the MMA Foundation in their will or other estate plans, and to recognize their contributions to the profession of medicine and the health of the people of Minnesota.

By including the MMA Foundation in your will or other estate plans, you join other Legacy Society members whose consequential acts of kindness and generosity will be felt long into the future.

As a member of the Legacy Society, your name is listed alongside other generous donors on our site, and in other publications of the MMA Foundation and the MMA. You also receive special updates and are invited to participate in fun and informative special events. You can choose to be recognized publicly or remain anonymous.

If you have already made arrangements for a future gift to the foundation, we would like to thank you, and we hope you will consider joining the Legacy Society, so we can honor you and introduce you to other generous, community-minded people.

Legacy Society members all have one thing in common. They have included a gift to the MMA Foundation in their will or other estate plan.

How Do I Join the Legacy Society?

Just contact the MMA Foundation, and let us know that you have named the MMA Foundation as a beneficiary in your will or other estate plan. Tell us how you would like your name to be listed, and the best ways to keep in touch with you.

You can simply call our office at 612-362-3746, email us, or send a note by mail to:

MMA Foundation
3433 Broadway St NE, Suite 187
Minneapolis, MN 55413

Do I have to tell you how much I am giving?

We will ask about the amount, and how the gift is set up in your estate plan (e.g. a will, trust, life insurance policy, beneficiary of a retirement, investment, or bank account, etc.), but there is no need to disclose the amount or the type of gift to join the Legacy Society.

It is helpful for planning purposes for us to know that information, especially if you are designating your support to certain MMAF programs (physician volunteerism, improving access to care in underserved communities, scholarships, etc.), or you wish to establish a named fund with your gift. However, there is no need to give us that information. Your statement that you have named the MMA Foundation as a beneficiary of your estate is sufficient to become a member of Legacy Society.

What if I have more questions or comments?
