Minnesota’s Primary Election Is August 11: What to Know

MMA members are encouraged to vote in Minnesota’s primary election on Tuesday, August 11. The primary election determines which candidates will be on the ballot in the November general election. 

Your participation is important to the future of healthcare and public policy in Minnesota. Make a plan to vote and stay engaged throughout the 2026 election cycle. 

How to Vote 

Minnesota voters have several options for casting their primary ballots: 

  • Vote on Election Day: Polls will be open on August 11. You can find your polling place and other voting information through the Minnesota Secretary of State. 

  • Vote early in person: Early voting for the primary began June 26, and is available through August 10. 

  • Vote by mail: Eligible voters can request an absentee ballot and vote from home. Mail-in ballots must be received by Election Day to be counted. 

  • Register to vote: Minnesota allows eligible voters to register on Election Day. Voters can also register or update their registration before Election Day through the Minnesota Secretary of State’s website.
