Connect and Network with Peers, Earn CME at Empowering Physicians Event

July 30, 2026

Connect with your fellow physicians and physicians-in-training at one of the MMA’s biggest events of the year – the 2026 Empowering Physicians event on Friday, September 25, from 3 to 8 pm at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, 2400 3rd Ave. S.

You can catch up with old friends as well as earn CME on two crucial topics for medicine in Minnesota - a session on how the One Big Beautiful Bill Act will affect the practice of medicine in Minnesota; and a session on medical liability in Minnesota.

The event will also include an inspirational talk by Regina Martinez Lorenzo, MD, the first female cross-country skier to represent Mexico in the Olympics. Martinez Lorenzo, a 2021 graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School, and now an emergency medicine physician in Miami, will detail how she first learned to cross-country ski in Minneapolis’ Theodore Wirth Park and, five years later, competed in the 10K freestyle cross-country ski event at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina, Italy, this past February.

Along with the networking, education and dinner speaker, the event will include:

  • A physicians-in-training poster symposium;

  • The winners of this year’s MMA Award; and

  • An introduction to the next MMA president, Dania Kamp, MD.
