ZVMS to Host Eye Care Clinic for Those Experiencing Homelessness

April 13, 2023

On May 20, the Zumbro Valley Medical Society (ZVMS) will partner with homelessness service agencies to provide an eye care clinic at The Landing MN, 426 3rd Ave SE, for Rochester-area community members experiencing unstable housing.

The eye care clinic team will assess individuals' need for glasses, as well as check for dry eye, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, glaucoma, and other specific eye issues.

Medical students and physicians will provide free eye exams and specialty care. Eyeglasses will be provided at no cost to clinic visitors.

ZVMS is asking for donations to fund medical supplies and equipment to be able to prescribe corrective lenses and diagnose common eye-related conditions. Following the clinic in May, ZVMS will provide eye care and glasses through regular drop-in clinics at additional locations and through street rounds.
