University of Minnesota Regents Approve Agreement for New Medical School Campus

October 19, 2023

The University of Minnesota Board of Regents approved an agreement on October 13 with CentraCare to create a new medical school campus in St. Cloud.

The University of Minnesota is hoping to have 20 to 24 new medical students begin at the campus during the fall of 2025, Medical School Dean Jakub Tolar, MD, PhD, told Minnesota Medicine.

CentraCare first approached the University of Minnesota in early 2022 with the idea to create a campus in St. Cloud to help promote physicians practicing in rural Minnesota.

The St. Cloud location joins the rural-practice focused Duluth campus, which opened 50 years ago.
