On September 25, the Task Force on Holistic and Effective Responses to Illicit Drug Use met for the first time. The group is tasked with reviewing and analyzing data on approaches to addressing illicit drug use in Minnesota.
At the meeting, Kurt DeVine, MD, and Ryan Kelly, MD, who are serving as the MMA’s representatives, were selected to serve as co-chairs of the task force.
The task force was formed following legislation passed in 2024. The Office of Addiction and Recovery was directed to administer the task force. By February 15, 2025, the task force must submit a report on its recommendations to the chairs and ranking minority members of the legislative committees and divisions with jurisdiction over public safety, health, and human services.
