Shape the Future of Primary Care: Apply for the Friedman-Bowen Scholarship Fund

The MMA Foundation has opened applications for the spring 2025 cycle of the Friedman-Bowen Primary Care Scholarship Fund.  

This scholarship supports medical students at the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine and the University of Minnesota School of Medicine (Duluth and Twin Cities campuses) who are interested in pursuing careers in primary care.  

The fund provides up to $2,000 in grants for student-designed projects that aim to improve primary care practices, enhance access to care for underserved populations, or address healthcare disparities.  

Projects can range from improving vaccination rates, to developing systems for increasing screenings or enhancing clinical processes. Scholarships may also support project-related expenses, such as statistical analysis or other academic resources that help a medical student successfully complete a project. 

The scholarship is available in two cycles: the first opens on March 6, and the second on September 12. Proposals are due by May 2 for the spring cycle, and November 7 for the fall cycle.  

To apply, students must submit a completed proposal, including a budget and a letter of recommendation, via email to Kristen Gloege.
