Sen. Morrison To Speak at Physicians’ Day at the Capitol Event Next Week

February 22, 2024

Sen. Kelly Morrison, MD, an MMA member, will be the keynote speaker at next week’s Physicians’ Day at the Capitol event from 1 to 4 pm on Wednesday, February 28.

The original keynoter, Speaker of the House Melissa Hortman, had to cancel so that she can focus on communicating the new budget forecast that will be released that day.

Before getting elected to the Senate, Morrison served in the state House of Representatives. Morrison has been a practicing obstetrician-gynecologist for more than 20 years. She has been a strong advocate for science and medicine here at the Capitol. She has championed legislation to make prescription drugs more affordable; reduce maternal mortality and morbidity rates; protect the patient-physician relationship; and protect and expand access to reproductive healthcare. She’s also decided to run for the open Third Congressional District seat, currently held by Rep. Dean Phillips.

The program for Physicians’ Day at the Capitol is from 1 to 2:30 pm on February 28 at the State Capitol. The program will be followed by meetings with legislators from 2:30 to 4 pm. Find additional information and registration here
