The MMA will present a virtual forum on “Counseling Against Lethal Means: Why Focusing on the HOW People Attempt Suicide Saves Lives” from noon to 1 pm on Wednesday, November 8.
The session will be led by Joshua Stein, MD, general and child adolescent psychiatrist, clinical director at the PrairieCare Brooklyn Park Partial Hospital Program. Thomas E. Kottke, MD, MSPH, medical director for wellbeing, HealthPartners and senior clinical investigator at the HealthPartners Institute will serve as moderator.
The forum objectives include:
Build immediate lifesaving skills that can be implemented into a daily practice
Walk through language around firearms that avoid politics and focuses on immediate safety
How to protect our peers - with a specific focus on the well-being of physicians and warning signs when a peer needs help
