November 5 Forum to Examine Rural Health Workforce

The MMA, along with the University of Minnesota Medical School, will hold a virtual physician forum on November 5 at noon on “Health Professions Education and Minnesota's Rural Health Workforce.” 

Rural communities face persistent challenges in accessing quality healthcare. Meanwhile, health systems face challenges in staffing. This panel discussion will look at gaps, research that has been done to better understand the needs of rural Minnesota, and how the University of Minnesota Medical School is addressing those needs.   

The free forum will feature:  

  • Christopher Fallert, MD, regional campus dean, St. Cloud Campus, University of Minnesota Medical School;  

  • Shailey Prasad, MD, MPH, professor of family medicine;  

  • Kevin Diebel, PhD, regional campus dean, Duluth Campus, University of Minnesota Medical School; and  

  • Sara North, PT, DPT, PhD, M.Ed., FNAP, associate professor, University of Minnesota Medical School.  

The panel will be moderated by Andrew Olson, MD, professor of medicine and pediatrics, University of Minnesota Medical School.
