The MMA will host a physician forum at noon on Wednesday, August 17, that will discuss the clinician's role in the COVID-19 Vaccine Safety Surveillance System. This forum will be held in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).
This session will provide an overview of the U.S. vaccine safety surveillance system and the role of the clinician in ensuring robust monitoring and reporting and providing support to persons that may have been injured from vaccination.
At the end of this session clinicians will be able to:
List four key elements of vaccine safety surveillance
Describe legal reporting requirements that clinicians must observe
Discuss support measures and resources that can be offered to persons experiencing a life-altering event following vaccination.
Faculty for the forum include presenter Lynn Bahta, R.N., MPH, CPH, COVID-19 Vaccine Outreach & Education, Vaccine Safety Coordinator, Immunization Clinical Consultant, Vaccine Preventable Disease Section, at MDH; and moderator Nicholas Lehnertz, MD, MPH, MHS, Medical Specialist 2, Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Prevention and Control, at MDH.
