Legislative Session Starts; MMA to Focus on 5 Major Issues

The MMA, along with Hennepin Healthcare and Hennepin Health, will co-host an online physician forum from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, that will examine the “Legal Implications of Perinatal Substance Use in Minnesota.”
This forum, which will be led by Cresta Jones, MD, FACOG, is part of the Perinatal Substance Use Project ECHO at Hennepin Healthcare. It is being done in partnership with the MMA and Hennepin Health.
Learning objectives for the forum include:
Review current state and federal statutes affecting patients affected by perinatal substance use and substance use disorders
Introduce recent 2021 statute change that affects substance use reporting in pregnancy
Discuss best practice in light of current statutes.
