Nominations are now open through June 30, 2026, for the MMA Foundation/Copic Humanitarian Award, which recognizes an MMA member who has made outstanding contributions through volunteer medical service to underserved communities in Minnesota.
Presented in partnership with Copic, the MMA’s preferred medical liability insurer, this award honors physicians whose work extends beyond clinical care to meaningfully improve access and health outcomes.
The selected physician directs a $10,000 donation from Copic to a Minnesota-based, health care–related 501(c)(3) organization of their choice. For more information or to submit a nomination, click here.

On October 29, a federal judge ruled that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) exceeded its authority when it restricted the definition of medical frailty – for the purpose of Medicaid work requirement exemptions– beyond the language in statute H.R. 1 (i.e., the One Big Beautiful Bill Act).
