Next Online Forum to Address Physician Burnout

January 6, 2022

The MMA’s next noon-time forum on physician burnout will be held on Jan. 12 from noon to 1 p.m. It will be led by Corey Martin, MD, a founder of Innovations in Resilience and the Bounce Back Project.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, burnout has become more of an epidemic in health care. During this forum, Martin will discuss new statistics on burnout and the consequences to physicians’ personal wellbeing. He will also discuss the organizations physicians work for and the people and patients in their care. He will share simple, efficient techniques to combat and prevent burnout and improve relationships with loved ones, colleagues, and patients.

Objectives for the forum include:

  • Review current state of burnout in healthcare providers and the tie to quality, safety, experience and retention.
  • Understand the power of strong relationships on health, happiness and longevity.
  • Understand that we are all leaders in this work and be able to identify opportunities that we have every day to incorporate resilience in our personal and work lives.
  • Understand the association between gratitude, health and happiness
  • Understand the science of happiness pertaining to the “three good things” gratitude tool and be able to incorporate into their daily life
