MMA Wins Award for Video Series on Racism, Microaggressions, and Implicit Bias
July 23, 2026
On July 16, the MMA received a 2026 AAMSE Profiles of Excellence (POE) Award at the AAMSE Annual Conference in Louisville, KY, for its Racism in Medicine: Truths from Minnesota Physicians initiative in the DEI category in the large organization division.
The MMA developed the initiative to address the documented and persistent impacts of racism, microaggressions, and implicit bias within the culture of medicine. Research and physician experiences show that discrimination in healthcare settings negatively affects physician well-being, career advancement, and workforce retention, while also contributing to inequities in patient care.
The American Association of Medical Society Executives (AAMSE) is the professional association of more than 1,300 medical society executives and staff specialists. Through its more than 300 member organizations, AAMSE advances the profession of medicine through education, communication of knowledge, leadership development, and collaboration.
This is the MMA's sixth POE award.
