MMA Reacts to Killing of Minneapolis Resident, ICE Presence

January 15, 2026

On January 9, the MMA posted on social media its support of healthcare access for all Minnesotans, regardless of immigration status.

The posts on Facebook, X, and LinkedIn were in response to the increased presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol officers in the state, and the killing of Minneapolis resident, Renee Nicole Macklin Good.

MMA members have reported that many of their patients are afraid to seek healthcare services, run errands, or even attend school.

Over the weekend, the MMA also joined the Minnesota Section of the American College of Gynecology (ACOG), the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP), the Minnesota Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (MNAAP),and the Minnesota Affiliate of American College of Nurse Midwives in a joint statement on ICE in Minnesota.
