MMA Member Will Help Lead New Regional Campus of the University of Minnesota Medical School

September 12, 2024

MMA member Jill Amsberry, DO, has been named the assistant dean of undergraduate medical education for the new University of Minnesota Medical School’s CentraCare Regional Campus in St. Cloud. The regional campus dean will be Chris Fallert, MD.

The new Medical School campus in St. Cloud, which will open in 2025, will focus on educating physicians across specialties to address the unique healthcare needs of rural Minnesotans and immigrant populations. The campus will expand the Medical School’s class by 24 students per year and increase the overall class size by 10 percent.

Amsberry has been a pediatrician at CentraCare for 13 years and has served as the medical director in the pediatrics clinic. In her new role, Amsberry will focus on recruiting and admitting students to the new regional campus, ensuring students receive a common curriculum, and supporting students in their medical education journey through student affairs.

Fallert has served as family medicine faculty at the Medical School’s Woodwinds Hospital Family Residency Program since 2008 and has trained physicians who work throughout the state. He also has extensive experience in undergraduate medical education, serving as family medicine clerkship director since 2015. In his new role, Fallert will oversee academic and administrative functions at the CentraCare Regional Campus, ensuring that programs meet the highest standards of excellence.
