This fall, the MMA is launching its new Minnesota Physician Leadership Institute (MPLI), which will offer innovative, best-in-class, leadership training to provide Minnesota physicians with the skills, insights, and competencies required to build leadership acumen.
“As we face our ever-changing and increasingly challenging world of healthcare delivery, medicine has never needed physician leaders more. The MPLI will be a catalyst to enhance physicians’ confidence and competence as we lead medicine forward,” said Cindy Firkins Smith, MD, MPLI program co-chair. “It will provide training in the core skills physicians need to serve as leaders in efforts that drive innovation in their practices and in the health of our communities.”

The MPLI is a unique program designed by physicians and for physicians and designed to help physicians realize their innate leadership potential. The MMA is excited to partner with the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management in delivering the program content.
“The MMA’s Minnesota Physician Leadership Institute fills a void in this state,” said Corey Martin, MD, MPLI program co-chair. “With this program, the MMA will be the organization physicians seek out and trust to provide ongoing leadership training.”
The inaugural cohort is scheduled to begin in December. Class-size is limited to 25 physicians and is only available to MMA members. See here for session details and registration costs.
