The MMA is launching a new program, exclusive to members, to strengthen physician well-being, reduce professional isolation, build a culture of connection, and foster sustained peer connections over time.
Called Medicine Together, the physician-led small group program will offer a structured space for physicians to step away from the demands of practice, and build trusted professional relationships that often feel difficult to create in the pace of modern practice.
The inaugural cohort is limited to 25 physicians in order to create a meaningful, interactive experience. The program includes a half-day, in-person kick-off on September 25 at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, followed by six, facilitated virtual sessions focused on connection, professional fulfillment, peer support, and navigating the challenges of modern practice.
Medicine Together will be facilitated by nationally recognized physician leaders in well-being, resilience, and peer connection - Corey Martin, MD, and Mark Greenawald, MD. It has been approved for 13 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Early bird registration is $795 through July 31. Standard registration is $895 beginning August 1. Registration closes on September 7.
Martin is a Yale-trained family physician driven to change the delivery of healthcare and improve the mental and physical health of physicians. He is a founder of the Bounce Back Project, practicing private group physician, former Bush Fellow, Chief Medical Officer, and lead physician in response to clinician burnout. He is also co-chair of the Minnesota Physician Leadership Institute and an MMA member.
Greenawald is professor and vice chair of family medicine and community medicine at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTC), and currently serves as the vice chair for academic affairs and professional development, and as residency program faculty for the Carilion Clinic Department of Family and Community Medicine. He also serves as the medical director for the Carilion Clinic Institute for Leadership Effectiveness (ILE), and is a leader of well-being initiatives for his clinical department, as well as Carilion Clinic and VTC. In February 2020, he rolled out the PeerRx Med program, a peer support and professional growth program that has already impacted the personal and professional well-being of clinicians and healthcare teams around the world.
