MMA Foundation Invites Applications for Its Scholarship Programs

September 25, 2025

The MMA Foundation is now accepting applications for multiple scholarship grant programs that support medical students and trainees.

Two key fall funds, which are due November 7, include:

The Friedman-Bowen Primary Care Scholarship Fund, which is open to designed projects that improve primary care practice, access, or awareness. Approximately $10,000 is available for this cycle.

The Reuter-Lien Well-being and Health Equity Scholarship Fund, which is open to medical students, residents, and fellows. It supports projects or research that promote well-being or catalyze optimal health. Approximately $2,300 is available for this cycle.

Ongoing Opportunities:

The Indihar Advocacy Scholarship Fund encourages Minnesota medical students to lead advocacy efforts that drive meaningful policy and structural changes for equity and justice. Applications are accepted year-round. Approximately $3,000 is awarded annually.

The MCAT® Fee Relief Fund helps reduce financial barriers for Minnesota undergraduates by covering MCAT® exam fees. Applications are accepted year-round. Approximately $3,000 is available annually.

The MMA Foundation’s scholarship grants equip future physicians with leadership, advocacy, and project skills while addressing issues that shape patient care, health equity, and the profession itself. These opportunities are possible thanks to the generosity of physicians and friends of medicine who believe in supporting the next generation. Your gift helps expand this work and open more doors for tomorrow’s physicians.
