MMA Foundation Invites Applications for Its Scholarship Programs

The MMA Foundation is accepting applications through October 18 for its Friedman-Bowen Primary Care Scholarship Fund and Reuter-Lien Well-being & Health Equity Scholarship Fund grants.  The MMA Foundation’s Indihar Advocacy Scholarship Fund and MCAT® Fee Relief Fund grants are also open. 

Friedman-Bowen Primary Care Scholarship Fund 
Designed to foster interest in primary care careers, this fund supports medical students at Minnesota medical schools who are passionate about primary care. Grants are available for student-initiated projects that aim to enhance primary care practice or address specific health issues. In 2024, the Foundation anticipates awarding approximately $10,000. Reuter-Lien Well-being & Health Equity Scholarship Fund 
This fund supports research or projects that promote health equity and improve well-being for students, trainees, and patients. One grant totaling $2,300 will be awarded in 2024. Click here for more details and to access the scholarship RFP and application materials.  

Indihar Advocacy Scholarship Fund 
Open year-round, this fund empowers Minnesota medical students to lead advocacy efforts aimed at policy and structural changes for greater equity and justice. Grants totaling $3,000 will be awarded in 2024. Click here for more details and to access the scholarship RFP and application materials. 

MCAT® Fee Relief Fund 

The Foundation also offers  MCAT® Fee Relief Fund grants to help pay the MCAT fees for undergraduates from racial and ethnic populations underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their numbers in the general population.
