Mayo Clinic’s President and CEO to Step Down in December, Successor to Be Named Later This Year

Mayo Clinic announced May 12 that Gianrico Farrugia, MD, its president and CEO since January 2019, will step down at the end of this year. 

Under Farrugia’s leadership, Mayo Clinic has been recognized by Newsweek as the world’s best hospital for eight consecutive years. 

Mayo’s Board of Trustees has started a formal leadership transition process. Farrugia’s successor is expected to be elected in November.
