March 8 Noontime forum to Cover Harm Reduction Approaches to Reducing Drug Use

The MMA’s next noon-time forum, which will discuss harm reduction approaches to reducing drug use, takes place March 8 from noon to 1 p.m.   

The forum will include the following experts: 

  • Heather Bell, MD, FASAM, FAAFP, Addiction Services and Primary Care, CentraCare 

  • Ryan Kelly, MD, MS, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Harm Reduction Addiction, Community-University Health Care Center at the University of Minnesota, SouthSide Harm Reduction 

  • Sheila P. Vakharia PhD LMSW, Deputy Director, Department of Research and Academic Engagement, Drug Policy Alliance 

Learning objectives for the forum include:  

  • Explore harm reduction approaches to reducing drug use.  

  • Describe the harm reduction approaches currently being used in Minnesota.  

  • Identify policies needed to lessen the personal and public health impacts of behavior associated with alcohol and other substance use.
