March 29 Physician Forum at New Time this Month to Cover Diversity in Clinical Trials

The next MMA online Physician Forum will discuss “Diversity in Clinical Trials” from 1 to 2 pm on Wednesday, March 29.    

The forum will feature groups in Minnesota working to diversify clinical trials. Learn about the impact this work is having on the health of Minnesota’s marginalized communities, and what this means for health equity. 

Speakers at the forum include: 

  • Talaya Dendy, founder and CEO, On the Other Side, LLC 

  • Tufia C. Haddad, MD, associate professor of oncology at Mayo Clinic; medical director of digital product/platform strategy; medical director for platform and digital innovation, Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center; enterprise co-leader of platform and digital innovation in the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center 

  • Andrew Snyder, director, Fairview Frontiers 

Laurel Ries, MD, MMA president-elect, will serve as moderator.

Learning objectives for the forum include: 

  1. Summarize the climate of clinical trial diversity in Minnesota. 

  1. Examine the need for more diversity in clinical trials. 

  1. Recognize how diversity in clinical trials can improve care and outcomes for marginalized groups.

AMA Urges Docs to Protect Medicaid by Contacting Congress

The AMA is encouraging physicians to contact their U.S. senators and urge them to revise the reconciliation bill passed recently by the U.S. House of Representatives. While the bill includes language that would stabilize Medicare physician payments, it also threatens to cripple Medicaid and CHIP.
