May 7, 2026

On May 6, the Minnesota Senate and House of Representatives recognized Dave Tilstra, MD, as the recipient of the 2025 MMA Foundation/Copic Humanitarian Award, which recognizes Minnesota physicians whose leadership, volunteerism, and service improve the health and well-being of their communities.

Tilstra was recognized for his longstanding work advancing community health initiatives across Minnesota, including Feeling Good Minnesota, which focuses on health through nutrition, physical activity, and community design. His efforts have helped expand access to sidewalks, bike lanes, and other ways for Minnesotans to stay active. Tilstra has also championed initiatives to improve access to affordable and healthy foods in schools, workplaces, and communities, helping create systems that make healthy choices are easier and more accessible for everyone.
