On May 6, the Minnesota Senate and House of Representatives recognized Dave Tilstra, MD, as the recipient of the 2025 MMA Foundation/Copic Humanitarian Award, which recognizes Minnesota physicians whose leadership, volunteerism, and service improve the health and well-being of their communities.

As part of the award, recipients direct a $10,000 charitable contribution from Copic to a cause of their choice. Tilstra designated funding to support genetic testing for patients who cannot otherwise afford it.
Presented annually by the MMA Foundation and Copic, the award highlights physicians who demonstrate exceptional commitment to humanitarian service and improving the lives of patients and communities across Minnesota.
