June 3 Virtual Forum Will Review 2026 Minnesota Legislative Session
May 7, 2026
The next Physician Forum will recap the 2026 Minnesota legislative session on Wednesday, June 3 at 7 pm, via Zoom.
The MMA’s Chad Fahning, MPP, senior manager of lobbying & legislative affairs, and Natalie Schmidt-Larkin, MPH, manager of state legislative affairs, will provide a session review, as well as take time for questions and answers. MMA President Lisa Mattson, MD, will serve as moderator.
Minnesota entered the session with tight political margins – a single-vote, DFL majority in the Senate, and an evenly split House of Representatives. Despite that, the MMA worked tirelessly for the physicians and physicians-in-training of Minnesota.
From minimizing the impact of federal cuts, to advancing legislation to increase immunization rates, the MMA advocated for a variety of major issues at the Capitol this session.
In addition, the MMA championed evidence-based firearm safety laws and limiting the use of prior authorization, and was involved in scope of practice legislation, bills to address burnout among healthcare professionals, and efforts to limit the incursion of federal law enforcement (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in Minnesota’s hospitals and clinics.
