July 17 Forum to Discuss Low Trust in Public Health/Professional Expertise

June 27, 2024

The next virtual physician forum will discuss the increasing distrust of professional expertise in a world where people line up along the red/blue political divide.

The forum, which is from noon to 1 pm on July 17, will review the sources of these changes in American life and how they affect physician/patient relationships, and will then present specific skills for providing medical care in a low-trust environment.

The presenter is William J. Doherty, Ph.D., a psychological and marriage and family therapist, emeritus professor at the University of Minnesota, and co-founder of Braver Angels, a national nonprofit working to depolarize the country. He previously worked in medical settings and has provided consultation to physicians for four decades. The forum will be moderated by Will Nicholson, MD, an MMA past president.
