January 22 Forum to Discuss Gender-Affirming Care

January 4, 2024

The MMA will present a virtual forum on “Gender-Affirming Care in Minnesota” from noon to 1 pm on January 22, as part of the Physician Forums series.

As other states move to restrict and ban access to certain treatments for the LGBTQ+ community, the right to seek and receive gender-affirming care in Minnesota remains protected by executive order.

Gender-affirming care refers to all medical, surgical, counseling, or referral services, including telehealth services, that an individual may receive to support and affirm their gender identity.

In this session, experts will explain the many types of gender-affirming care, the need for them, the health equity implications, and how physicians can incorporate this type of care into their practice.

Panelists for the session include: Zachary Shaheen, MD PhD.; Jamie Feldman, MD; and Kat Rohn, executive director of OutFront Minnesota. MMA President Laurel Ries, MD, will serve as moderator.
