After meeting for the past year, the Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) in Jails workgroup has released its interim report. The final report and recommendations are expected to be completed this fall.
The Minnesota Office of Addiction & Recovery (OAR) convened the MOUD in Jails workgroup in May 2024, with the goal of identifying barriers and possible solutions to providing MOUD for Minnesotans incarcerated in jails.
The MMA, in partnership with the OAR, will host a virtual forum on increasing access to MOUD in jails on September 10 from noon to 1 pm. At this forum, attendees will learn more about the workgroup’s efforts, their final report, and the role that primary care physicians can play in this space. Registration for this forum can be found here.
The MOUD in Jails workgroup is being convened by the OAR and is co-chaired by the MMA (represented by Tyler Winkelman, MD, MSc) and the Minnesota Sheriff’s Association (represented by Jim Stuart, executive director).
