Instructors Needed to Help Expand ALSO Training in Rural Minnesota

April 2, 2026

Physicians are needed to help grow the instructor pool for Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO), critical training for rural clinicians managing obstetrical emergencies.

Medi-Sota, a regional healthcare consortium in rural Minnesota, will host an ALSO Instructor course this fall, followed by a full ALSO course so new instructors can immediately participate in teaching.

Medi-Sota is seeking two types of participants:

  • Experienced ALSO instructors willing to teach at the instructor course and serve as mentors/advisors during the ALSO course the following day.

  • Physicians interested in becoming ALSO instructors, particularly those practicing in rural communities.

There is also an immediate need for one or two instructors for an upcoming ALSO course at LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau.  Instructors will receive support for mileage, lodging, and instructor fees.

Potential dates:

  • September 17–18

  • September 24–25

  • October 8–9

  • October 15–16

If you have ALSO teaching experience or are interested in becoming an instructor, contact:  Alyssa Christianson, member services coordinator with Medi-Sota.
