Allina Health Physicians Vote to Authorize Strike

More than 130 Allina Health hospital physicians represented by Doctors Council SEIU voted last week, by a 90% margin, to authorize a strike after nearly two years of bargaining.

Sen. Matt Klein, MD (DFL – Mendota Heights), will be the keynote speaker at next week’s Physicians’ Day at the Capitol on March 4.
Klein was first elected to the Minnesota Senate in 2016, and has served in the Legislature ever since. He is an internal medicine physician, graduating from Mayo Medical School in 1993. Klein has worked at both Hennepin Healthcare and the Mayo Clinic throughout his 30+ years as a physician.

Klein currently serves as chair of the Senate Commerce and Consumer Protection Committee. During his years in the Minnesota Senate, Klein has led on legislation protecting Minnesotans from financial fraud and predatory lending, addressing rising costs of medications by regulating the pharmaceutical industry, and was a leader in affirming the rights of Minnesotans to make their own choices about reproductive health.
Most recently, Klein has been an outspoken champion for legislation to increase vaccination rates and creating a pathway for individuals to sue a federal agency or individual for preventing an injured individual from rendering aid following an encounter with federal law enforcement.
Klein is also currently running for Congress in Minnesota’s open second congressional district.
