First Minnesota Measles Case of 2025 Reported

March 27, 2025

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) reported the first case of measles in Minnesota on March 25.

MDH is still investigating the case, but it appears the individual, who had been vaccinated, traveled from Minnesota to Washington, DC.

The MMA has been strongly advocating to improve the state’s vaccination rate. Minnesota has the fourth lowest MMR vaccination rate among kindergartners in the nation (87%) – and one of the weakest childhood vaccination laws.

In 2024, MDH reported 70 cases of measles in Minnesota, the highest amount since 2017, when 2017 cases were reported.
