AMA Seeking Feedback in Financial Aftermath of Cyberattack
April 24, 2025
More than a year after the cyberattack at Change Healthcare, a UnitedHealth Group (UHG) subsidiary, some Minnesota practices are still suffering from cashflow issues.
Last year, UHG provided interest-free loans to some clinics to help them through the financial crisis that resulted from the cyberattack. Now, UHG’s Optum division is trying to recoup the loans, and some clinics say they are moving too fast with the repayment process.
AMA representatives say they are “hearing about issues related to Optum’s strict measures for repayment/recoupment of loans, as well as practices receiving rejections for not meeting UnitedHealthcare’s (UHC) timely filing deadlines.”
The AMA has created a survey to find out how clinics are faring in their loan repayments with Optum.
