Action Alert: Members Urged to Contact Legislators on HHS Bill

April 14, 2022

On April 12, the MMA asked members to send Action Alerts to their state senator and representative, urging them to support certain items in the House health and human services omnibus bill.

Specifically, the MMA is asking lawmakers to support:

  • Limiting the ability of insurers and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to make mid-year changes to their formularies, a practice that often forces patients off medications that are working.

  • Improve coverage of tobacco cessation services in the state’s public programs.

  • Authorization to begin developing a statewide registry for POLST (Provider Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment) forms to ensure patients preferences are respected at the end of their life.

  • New money to fund rural primary care residency programs.

These critical items are in the House omnibus bill but are not included in the Senate version. You can send an Action Alert here.
