MDH Adds Assistant Commissioner

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has appointed Carol Backstrom as the new assistant commissioner for the agency’s Health Systems Bureau. In this role, which she begins August 16, Backstrom will oversee the MDH’s Health Regulation Division, Health Policy Division and Office of Medical Cannabis.

DHS Extends Medical Assistance Deadline for 35,500

The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) has extended the deadline to renew Medical Assistance (MA) for 35,500 people whose renewal paperwork was overdue for July 1 coverage. Their deadline will remain open until August 1.
