Moose Lake Physician Named President of Minnesota Medical Association
September 30, 2026
Dania Kamp MD, of Sturgeon Lake, was installed as the Minnesota Medical Association’s (MMA) 160th president on September 25, during the association’s Empowering Physicians event at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Her term, which officially begins October 1, lasts one year.
Kamp, who practices family medicine, is a physician-owner of Gateway Family Health Clinic in Moose Lake, where she has practiced for 22 years. Her work has taken her from clinic and hospital medicine, and maternity care to nursing homes and patients’ homes. More recently, she returned to rural emergency-room shifts in Grand Marais and Two Harbors on weekends.
Kamp has been active with the MMA since she became a member in 2012. She has served on the MMA Board of Trustees, the Executive Committee, the Committee on Governance, and the Awards Committee. She is also on the board of MEDPAC, the MMA's political action committee.
At her inauguration, Kamp pledged to advocate for patients, and serve as a voice for Minnesota’s physicians, residents, and medical students.
Kamp has lived in Minnesota her entire life, apart from her three years of residency training at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. Her career in rural medicine has given her firsthand experience with the healthcare challenges facing Minnesota communities.
In 2016, she was inaugurated as president of the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians. She served as delegate or alternate delegate to the American Academy of Family Physicians Congress of Delegates for eight years, bringing her voice to a national level. She has served on numerous local and state committees, and met with many elected officials, at both the state and federal level.
