Lakeville Physician Named President of Minnesota Medical Association

Edwin Bogonko, MD, MBA, of Lakeville, was installed as the Minnesota Medical Association’s (MMA) 158th president on September 27 during the association’s Empowering Physicians Conference in Minneapolis.  

Bogonko, a hospitalist with Allina Health in Shakopee, has been very active with the MMA since he became a member in 2010. He served as the chair of the MMA's Board of Trustees from October 2020 to September 2023. He has also served on the MMA’s Executive Committee, Policy Council, Nominating Committee, Awards Committee, and the Finance and Audit Committee.

His term, which officially begins October 1, lasts one year.

The Minnesota Medical Association (MMA) and four other physician advocacy organizations sent a letter to Gov. Tim Walz on September 5 urging him to call a special legislative session to “pass legislation to address the devastating death and injuries from firearms and gun violence.
