At its February 19 meeting, the MMA Board of Trustees approved proposals that decriminalize homelessness, support insurance coverage for people with undocumented status, and promote coverage of therapeutic shoes and inserts.

The proposal on decriminalization of homelessness came from the MMA Policy Council. The board adopted it with amendments.

The proposal on insurance coverage for people with undocumented status came from the MMA’s Equity in Access & Quality Committee. The board adopted it without amendments.

The proposal on coverage of therapeutic shoes and inserts was submitted by Caroline Gormley, DO. It was adopted without amendments.

The board considered input from nearly 350 MMA members who submitted votes and/or comments on these proposals via The Pulse, the MMA’s exclusive online policy development tool.
