Vote for MMA Leadership and Proposed Bylaws Change During August

July 18, 2024

MMA members are encouraged to vote for incoming MMA leadership during the month of August. Members will receive a ballot via email on August 1 to vote on the slate of leadership candidates. The ballot will include background information on each of the candidates.

President-elect and Board of Trustee members will take office October 1. AMA delegates and alternate delegates take office beginning January 1, 2025.

This year’s slate is as follows:

President-elect (members will elect one)

  • Lisa Mattson, MD, FACOG

Trustee (members will elect one)

  • Amrit Singh, MBBS (incumbent)

Medical Student Trustee (members will elect one)

  • Hunter Cantrell, BSc

  • Caleb Grenko, BS

AMA Delegate (members will elect one)

  • John Abenstein, MD, MSEE (incumbent)

AMA Alternate Delegate (members will elect one)

  • Laurel Ries, MD (incumbent)

This year’s ballot also includes a Board of Trustees-recommended change to MMA Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws. The change would grant the MMA Board of Trustees the authority to amend bylaws with a majority vote, subject to an advance 30-day member notice and comment period. This change aligns with governance best practices that place authority for bylaws changes with organization fiduciaries, which in MMA’s case are the elected trustees and officers. The proposed bylaws change would preserve MMA’s history of transparency and member input via an advance 30-day member notice and comment period on any future bylaws changes.

The MMA has partnered with Survey & Ballot Systems (SBS) to administer the 2024 election.  To assure your email ballot arrives safely in your inbox on August 1, 2024, simply add the following email address as an approved sender: noreply@directvote.net.
