The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Lead Poisoning Prevention Program has released the 2025 revisions of the Childhood Blood Lead Treatment Guidelines for Minnesota and its Childhood Blood Lead Case Management Guidelines for Minnesota.
These treatment and case management guidelines were revised based on feedback from a multi-disciplinary workgroup consisting of healthcare and public health professionals, professional healthcare associations, and other relevant partners.
MMA Member Maria Starchook-Moore, MD, MPH served on the workgroup that revised the guidelines. At its December 2024 meeting, the MMA Board of Trustees voted to endorse and support the updated Childhood Blood Lead Treatment Guidelines and Childhood Blood Lead Case Management Guidelines for Minnesota.
Small updates were also made to the Childhood Blood Lead Screening Guidelines for Minnesota. These newly revised guidelines, and all other blood lead guidelines, are available at MDH Blood Lead Level Guidelines.
