Legislative Session Starts; MMA to Focus on 5 Major Issues

State lawmakers returned to St. Paul on February 17 for the second half of the 2025-2026 biennium.

Applications are being accepted currently for six State Trauma Advisory Council (STAC) positions to be appointed to four-year terms beginning January 2024. Three of the six positions are for surgeons.
The STAC typically meets as a full council four times each year to advise the Minnesota Commissioner of Health on a variety of matters related to improving trauma care across the state. Members can also participate in a variety of subcommittees and work groups.
Applications are being accepted for the following physician positions:
Neurosurgeon - Level 1 or 2 Trauma Hospital: a neurosurgeon certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery who practices in a level 1 or 2 trauma hospital;
Rural General Surgeon: a general surgeon certified by the American Board of Surgery or the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery whose practice includes trauma and who practices in a designated rural area as defined under section 144.1501, subdivision 1, paragraph (e);
Trauma Surgeon- Level 1 or 2 Trauma Hospital: a trauma surgeon certified by the American Board of Surgery or the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery who practices in a level 1 or 2 trauma hospital
