February 2 Virtual Forum to Discuss the Rise of Congenital Syphilis in Minnesota

The MMA and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) will present a virtual forum on “Rising Congenital Syphilis in Minnesota: A Special Briefing for Health Care Providers” from noon to 1 pm on February 2, as part of the MMA’s Physician Forums series.    

The forum will cover updated syphilis screening recommendations in pregnancy, syphilis screening in non-traditional settings, syphilis in infants/children, known disparities, and implications for Greater Minnesota. 

Forum speakers include: 

  • Ruth Lynfield, MD, state epidemiologist with the Minnesota Department of Health 

  • Stephen Contag, MD, associate professor, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health at the University of Minnesota 

  • Alice Lehman, MD, CTropMed, Adult and Pediatrics Infectious Diseases Fellow at the University of Minnesota, LEAP Fellow 2023-2024
