Physician Compact Fix Gains Momentum

A bill that will allow Minnesota physicians to fully participate in the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact has been recommended to pass by relevant committees in both the House and Senate.

The proposed law would give Minnesota physicians access to a voluntary, expedited licensure process to practice in multiple states.

Under current law, Minnesota may issue licenses under the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact to physicians residing outside of the state, but a small statutory change is needed to permit the participation of physicians with their primary practice or residence within Minnesota.
