May Deadlines Set for Minnesota Medicine's Writing and Photography Contests

The editors of Minnesota Medicine are once again looking for physicians, residents and medical students to tap into their creativity and enter their work in the magazine’s annual writing and photography contests.

Whether you shoot with a DSLR or a smartphone, if you’ve captured an arresting image that tells a story or reveals beauty in a place, person or moment, enter it in Minnesota Medicine’s photography contest. To enter, click here. Deadline: May 1. Limit two entries per person.

This year, we are adding a special category to help us celebrate 100 years of Minnesota Medicine. Through photography, visual art or poetry, we want you to capture the essence of medicine in Minnesota. It could be a photograph of an emergency physician’s face after an all-night shift or a watercolor of a physician dressed like Paul Bunyan. Winning works will be displayed at the MMA’s office for all visitors to see. To enter, click here. Deadline: May 1.

How has medicine touched, aggravated or changed you? What patient can’t you forget? What moment stopped you in your tracks? Tell your story. Enter your poem, essay or short story in Minnesota Medicine’s writing contest. To enter, click here. Deadline: May 7.

The contests are open to practicing and retired physicians in Minnesota and adjacent states, physicians in Minnesota-based residency programs, and students in Minnesota medical schools. The best submissions will be published in the July/August 2018 issue of Minnesota Medicine.
