All Physician clinics, except those with less than 715 unique eligible adult patients with face-to-face visits, are required to participate in the patient experience of care measure, using the CG-CAHPS Visit-Specific Questionnaire. Psychiatry and adolescent/pediatric medicine specialties are excluded. Detailed reporting requirements can be found here.
State rules require physician clinics to use a survey vendor approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to administer the HCAHPS tool. CMS does not certify vendors to administer CG-CAHPS for physician clinics. For purposes of fulfilling state requirements under Chapter 4654, physician clinics must use a vendor certified by CMS to administer HCAHPS or MA and PDP CAHPS.
