Governance Changes

On September 22, 2018, the MMA House of Delegates voted to sunset the House.

On September 21, 2013, the MMA House of Delegates (HOD) voted to suspend activity until 2016 so that the MMA can pilot a new governance structure focused on developing additional ways to engage members. During that three year period information on the implementation of the changes was gathered and shared with the 2016 HOD convened solely for the purpose to discuss whether the new governance structure is working, whether it has been “successful in increasing member engagement in policy decision-making” and whether it should be continued. After reviewing the results the HOD voted to permanently adopt all of the governance changes, except the permanent sunset of the HOD.  They voted to reconvene one more time in 2018 for the sole purpose of reviewing the effectiveness of the Policy Council and future of the HOD.

With the adoption of the permanent changes the Annual Meeting will continue to take place and will now be open to all members with a strong focus on policy development. There will be exended use of listening sessions and policy forums throughout the year to gather member input and we will continue to use electronic all-member voting to elect MMA officers, board members and members of our AMA delegation.
