Medicare cut delayed, physicians face participation options
When President Bush signed the $555 billion omnibus spending bill December 26, physicians were given a reprieve from a 10 percent cut and were given more time to decide about Medicare participation. MORE
Tooling up for PQRI 2008
The 2008 Physician Quality Reporting Initiative program has begun, kicking off January 1. The American Medical Association and other groups have developed participation tools for all of the measures in the program. MORE
State lacks CDC-compatible disease surveillance system
A report by the Trust for America’s Health says that Minnesota is one of only 12 states that still lack a disease surveillance system compatible with the NEDSS system operated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. MORE
Minnesota factoring "social determinants" into health equation
Minnesota is one of a handful of states cited in a Washington Times story whose health departments have been rethinking the way they assess disease, focusing more on "social determinants" such as poverty and discrimination. MORE
