Twin Cities rated #1 for women's heart health
MINNEAPOLIS, May 20, 2008—A study by the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement reveals that the Twin Cities metro area is the nation's healthiest "mega metro" for women's hearts.
The study, conducted by Sperling’s BestPlaces, showed these as the top ten metro areas (population 1.5 million or greater):
- Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington, MN-WI
- Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, DC-VA-MD-WV
- San Francisco-San Jose-Oakland, CA
- Denver-Aurora, CO
- Boston-Cambridge-Quincy, MA-NH
- Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, WA
- Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton, OR-WA
- San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos, CA
- Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana, CA
- Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale, AZ
The bottom ten:
- Indianapolis, IN
- Cleveland-Elyria-Mentor, OH
- Las Vegas-Paradise, NV
- Cincinnati-Middletown, OH-KY-IN
- Columbus, OH
- Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, TX
- Pittsburgh, PA
- Detroit-Warren-Livonia, MI
- St. Louis, MO-IL
- Nashville-Davidson--Murfreesboro, TN
San Francisco, Denver and Los Angeles were the thinnest mega metros; Cleveland, San Antonio and Columbus were among the most overweight.
Surprisingly, our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., reported the lowest stress ratings of all the mega metros while Portland, OR reported the highest stress levels in the category.
