 Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon

[MMA News Now, Jan. 10, 2013]
Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon will be a guest speaker at the Day at the Capitol event on Feb. 7th at 1:30 p.m. in Room 118 of the Capitol building.

Prettner Solon will discuss the current state of health care in Minnesota and preview some of the challenges physicians face in 2013.

“We’re pleased to have Lt. Gov. Prettner Solon at our event,” said Eric Dick, MMA manager of state legislative affairs. “She’s a licensed clinical psychologist and has been actively involved in health care issues as a lawmaker and within the Dayton Administration. We feel she is a real ally for physicians.”

As a state senator representing a portion of northeast Minnesota, Prettner Solon served on the Health, Housing and Family Security Committee, and the Finance Subcommittee for the Health and Human Services Budget Division. While serving as lieutenant governor, she remains very involved on health care issues, particularly those related to seniors.

“Lawmakers have their hands full this session,” Dick said. “They are dealing with a $1.1 billion deficit. It’s important for physicians to meet face to face with lawmakers so they know how important it is to protect funding for health care issues. Day at the Capitol is great opportunity for all Minnesota physicians to really make a difference.”
